Ibiza celebrates the Sailor’s Festivity

During this weekend Ibiza celebrates the sailor’s festivity, the day of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of sailors. All the boats of the island offer flowers to the Virgin of the Sailors. Any port is a good place to enjoy this marine tradition; the boats navigate all together to fill the harbor with flowers at the rhythm of their sirens honoring the virgin.
This weekend is also the local festivity of Portintax, a town in the north of the island. On Saturday afternoon there will be a wine and typical food tasting to get ready for the floral offering to the Virgen del Carmen. At night the music will continue with the ‘Hitsession Portinatx’ that will bring great music to Playa Grande until dawn.
Portinatx’s big day will take place on Sunday 15th and will fill the streets with music from early in the afternoon. At 18.15 hours the municipal band of Santa Eulalia will offer a parade, so that all residents can enjoy the rhythm wherever they are. Later it will be the turn of the Virgin, who will walk in procession to bless all sailors.

In the evening the party will begin and will bring more flowers.
From 21.00 hours Mick J. Brendon will bring the sixties back to Ibiza with its best Rock and Roll and later with a Flower Power party, all on the main beach of Portinatx. Finally, the fireworks will end this weekend of the real Ibiza parties!
